Remember When Wednesday
Today I'm taking you back 7 years, almost to the day. Immediately following graduation I packed up my little red civic and headed back home to California with my roommates Benz and Jersey. 3 girls on a roadtrip from Syracuse to Sacramento, what could go wrong?
After Ohio, we constantly reminded each other this was the farthest west Jersey had ever been, it never got old. We searched daily for the largest water tower with pics to prove it. Benz painted her toenails on my dashboard as we rocked out to Bohemian Rhapsody (is there a better car song?). The two girls both wore expressions of shock when told the closest McDonald's was 100 miles away on our drive through Wyoming. We watched the West Wing series finale in Winnemucca, Nevada (I love you Aaron Sorkin). The town didn't carry the WB, so the Dawson's Creek finale would have to wait until we made it to my parents house. The box of wine we iced down in the bathroom sink got us through the devastation!
After arriving safely in the suburbs of Sacramento and detoxing for a couple of days, the road trip continued on to Sonoma State to teach Vladeraptor and TI the game of Beirut (mistakenly referred to by some as Beer Pong, a debate that will rage until the end of time). From there, our travels took us to San Francisco to visit Benz's cousin. By this point the 3 of us had spent over a week together, most of that time in a tiny car. Emotions ran high while patience ran extremely low. What better way to move past the tension then a night starting with $.25 PBR's?
The PBR eventually ran out so we moved on to some place in the North End. Jersey approached the bar expecting immediate attention. The bartender ignored her attempts so I stepped in and got our drinks. Somehow in the confusion Jersey decided to punch me in jugular, like couldn't breathe jugular (to this day it's still unclear as to why). My immediate reaction? Pouring my entire drink over her head. Hey, at least it was vodka-soda and not cran! Pushing ensued and security stepped in. That's right, my one and only time being kicked out of a bar. How did it end? We cried and hugged in the street outside immediately forgiving each other.
At Benz's wedding this past weekend the story came up several times before I arrived. Everyone assumed we went our separate ways after the incident. Jersey's response? Nope, she was a bridesmaid in my wedding this past fall. I love my Cuse girls!
P.S. Today's the last day to enter my awesome HIMYM Season 1 DVD giveaway, the winner will be announced tomorrow!
P.P.S. The Jazz Hands Revolution is spreading...Cathy shows CoCo how it's done.

Those were the best times! I swear -- the fact that you were able to stand them for a week solid is a miracle...as much as I loved my girls, ain't no way we'd be able to stand each other for a week!
If I were trapped in a car for that many days, even if it were my best girlfriends, no one would have made it out alive. I think that's a testament to how wonderful a friendship you guys have!!
That is crazy! I couldn't even imagine being with any of my girlfriends for that long. Love the story!
Fan-freaking-tastic!! I love when you find girlfriends like that.....not matter what you do to each other they're there for you! Great story!
Jersey girls stick together even through jugular punches.
Jazz hands might be my favorite blog thing ever. Just don't expect the men to join in. Well, most men.
College will bond girls like nothing else. And will let you spend days upon end in a tiny vehicle. That's what living in the dorm prepares you for.
I LOVE this story because it reminds me of all the ones I could tell on my girls. Like the one where we decided to take a cruise. That's a lot of nights to spend with 3 other girls in a ship's cabin. Like a lot. We burned through a lot of cheese plates and leftover bottles of wine.
How did your mother's day gift go over? ;)
