A Witty Title (sorry, couldn't resist)

Rounding out the week is my friend in real life, Katie from Suicide Blonde.  She's snarky, sarcastic, hilarious and awesome.  All qualities important in a friend.  But there are two qualities I admire most about her because I can't do them myself: 1. Her ability to make Top 5 lists (I have so much trouble narrowing down my options) 2. Her love of tattoos (I can't commit to anything long term, including permanent markings on my body).  Today she provides you with 1 of the 2, but you can read about the 2nd on her blog, so go there too!

Hello Hutch's friends! If you're reading this, it's because Hutch has managed to grab your attention with a witty title (I didn't title this on purpose. I felt the need to make her work a little bit this week).

First of all, I'd like to say thanks to Hutch for asking me to guest blog for her this week, while she works out details of "unawesomness", as she so eloquently puts it. She asked me last week if I'd like to do this, and I agreed, immediately thinking of the perfect subject - a Top 5 List.

On my blog, I (try) to do what I like to call "Top 5 Wednesdays", where I choose a random topic and make a top 5 list about it. My topics have ranged from "Top 5 Favorite Fast Food Items" to "Top 5 Female Celebrities I Want to Punch". Hutch has told me in the past that she likes these lists, so I figure "guesting" on her blog calls for her favorite type of post.

I'm going to digress for a short time, but I think it's important that you all know this small backstory: I am lucky enough to know Hutch in real life. We went to middle and high school together and had many mutual friends, although we never really did hang out during that time. I've spent some time with her in the last couple years, as one of her BFFs married one of my BFFs (her BFF is a girl, my BFF is a guy), doing the whole shower/wedding stuff, as well as a few ugly Christmas sweater parties and a housewarming party. And her mom and my mom used to work together. Oh, and I baked her cupcakes this year for her 25th (cough, cough) birthday.

So, today's topic is:

"Top 5 Reasons Why I Think Hutch Is Awesome"

5. She picked a fantastic roommate.
I've known her roomate, fondly known as Vladeraptor on the blog, for years as well. We had many classes together in high school - one of which taught by a dirty old man that liked to look down 15-year-old girl's shirts (he was also my track coach. Ew.). Put Hutch and Vladeraptor in a room together, add beer and/or other alcoholic beverages, and let me tell you, good times are gonna happen. These girls are F-U-N!

4. We share the same sense of humor.
I've never understood why the two of us didn't hang out more together back in the day. We share the same blunt wit, sarcastic tone, and we think the same things are funny. I'm sure you've gotten her sense of humor if you read her blog regularly. I heart it, but she's much better about putting her humor into words. When I try, I tend to use a lot of profanity....she's managed to refrain.

3. She likes Dave Matthews Band.
I'm a huge fan myself (huge enough to get their Firedancer logo tattooed on me), and the fact that we can discuss our mutual love of the band and Dave himself is fantastic. Hutch actually invited me to join her and Vladeraptor to one of the DMB shows this summer (sadly, I had to decline due to a scheduling conflict). It's been fun trading DMB song lyrics and commenting together about how Dave himself is a 40ish-year-old hottie.

2. She's another chick that likes sports.
I find this to be a rare, but awesome, trait in girls these days. Hutch is a football, baseball, basketball, and soccer fan. Now, that's dedication. Personally, I'm into football, baseball, boxing, and MMA. When it comes to football and baseball, we like rival teams (she's a SF 49ers fan, I like the Oakland Raiders. She likes the SF Giants, I like the Oakland A's). Sports seasons are gonna be fun this year - I'll be trading smack talk in both the blog world and on Facebook. You ready, Hutch? Lincecum is going DOWN!! :-)

1. She introduced me to a show that I never knew existed until I read her blog - How I Met Your Mother.
I have managed to catch a few episodes on Comcast's "On Demand" channel, and I can't believe how much I've missed out. That show is amazing and so freaking funny. And for Hutch's blog to be based on a quote by the main character, Barney, makes her simply, in a word, awesome.

How cool that you actually know her IRL! I only assumed that Hutch was awesome based on her blog, and it's so nice to know that she really really is. :)

Three cheers for chicks who love sports!

Thanks Katie, this is definitely my fave list by far and will be referring back to it should any more unawesome ever come up!

Oh and I have Braden on my fantasy team so I'll ignore your comment on the back-to-back Cy Young winner for now :)

Isn't it fun when you discover that someone you went to school with turns out to be someone you really should have spent time with! Glad it's happened for both of you...Thanks for the list. Come visit when you can...

I am not a big DMB fan, but I am a fan of snarky, sarcastic, hilarious and awesome. I also like How I Met Your Mother, except Ted REALLY bugs me. I don't know why, but I don't find him funny at all. However, Marshall and Barney are two of the funniest characters on TV.

Hutch, because you have Braden, you're fogiven (sorta) for being a Giants fan.

And thanks to everyone for reading my awesome Top 5 List. :-) I got a new follower of my own out of this post - thanks The Random Blogette!
