The Best of Friends

Today is TI's 30th Birthday! It's also our 30th Friendiversary!

To say I've been friends with anyone for 30 years just sounds crazy.  At the same time, I realize just how rare 30 years can be.  Our story is always fun to tell, especially to co-workers (yes, we also work together).  My mom introduced her parents and we've been friends since her birth.  I used to hold over her how I was the Older One. You know, back in the day when the 3 months and 2 days mattered, now she gets to say she's the Younger One.

One of my fave pics, TI all prim and proper, me chillin with a book.

We were inseparable as kids.  Every time I see the updates on facebook about playing in the streets until dark, I think back to the biking, swimming and dance performances we put on together.  If you ever need blackmail on me, she's the one to go to.  How she got me to dress up as the genie in Aladdin, I will never know!  Or singing along, on video, to Amy Grant?!  I can't sing.  At all.

Hers was the house I went to on 90210 nights during our pre-teen years.  My parents wouldn't let me watch, but with a bit of perspective, I now suspect they knew exactly what I was doing. On rainy days we could be found watching Ferris Bueller and Footloose (of course, dancing along with the opening number).  Before being corrupted by city boys fighting dance bans or playing hooky, we loved our Disney movies. I mean the REAL Disney movies. I like Pixar, but they really don't make them like they used to.  One of the most underrated, and a true favorite, is The Fox and the Hound.  I know when I sit down to watch with my future kids, I will be thinking of TI.  She'll probably be sitting there along with us!

Happy 30th to my Forever Friend!!

That's awesome to still be biffles with someone you've known since you were born. I've known my oldest friend for like 20 years now. We met in kindergarten. She's also a Becky.

I love it. That's really sweet. I, sadly, have no friends from when I was zero.

I have a friend like this too! It's so awesome to be able to say we've been friends forever. People tend to think we're sisters because we look alike, which is cool with me because I don't have a sister.

Happy Birthday to TI and Happy Friendiversary!

What a great tribute to your friend :)
So, instead of the Fox and the Hound - you two are now the Puma and the Panther?

Awwww...I will have to say that your story is extraordinarily rare. I don't have any friends from high school, let alone 30 years. This post is very touching.

How sweet! I can't imagine knowing someone non-related for that long!

I'm curious though, have you guys had any big fights? How did you get past them?
