Twitter - The Celebrity Effect

Remember writing fan letters to celebrity crushes in your pre-teen/teen years?  I mean actual handwritten letters.  You might have even asked them to attend your school dance (coughcoughTIcough). In response you probably received a signed photo. Getting a package from Devon Sawa (insert Devon Sawa's package joke here) was better than any note from the boy you crushed on for years, but actually knew in real life. Only later did you calculate the odds of the celebrity actually signing the photo themselves.

Now, 140 characters or less can change my day in the best way possible.  Whether it's Sports Authority retweeting my story on how I became a soccer fan, my favorite gossip blogger responding to MY response on one of her tweets, or the San Francisco Giants retweeting a pic from Monday night's game to all the Giants fans on Twitter, creating a new hashtag along with it.

#LilFreak

BUT.  Nothing compares to the email showing up in your inbox stating a REAL celebrity is now following you on Twitter.

I wasn't even following him first (#humblebrag)!  I followed back immediately though, my blonde doesn't run that deep.  Then I waited for the unfollow to happen. He must have made a mistake.  Miraculously, he still sits there as one my measly 300+ followers.  I suppose an invite to the Hollywood parties is the next logical step.  I'll keep an eye out in the mail.

That's amazeballs. He's obviously drawn to your awesomeness like a beacon.

As awesome it is that Joey followed you I am way more jealous that the Giants re-tweeted your tweet. I have been tweeting to them for months and nothing.

That is so fun!!! But I guess what I should say is, "Whoa!"

I was going to say "Whoa", but Blueviolet beat me to it.

When you were writing to Devon Sawa I was writing to Joey Lawrence. Well...actually it's more like five years before you were writing to Devon Sawa I was writing to Joey Lawrence. Because I'm old.

Congrats on your first celeb follower!

I'm going to start referring to you as "The Hutch I knew back before she got famous" because it is bound to happen. How did you get all that awesome on Twitter?? Color me impressed. And maybe just a smidge jealous.

And please tell Joey Lawrence that he was too good for "Blossom" and that I will heart him always.

Now that totally deserves a WHOA! I am super jealous. My celebrity twitter encounters have consisted of Tawny Kitaen and some random D-list actress that loves my blog. You win!

OMG! How exciting for you!!Seriously...I'm loving that you can get "close" to celebrities on Twitter. Onetime I was followed by Antonio Sabado Jr. or whatever his name was, it was the verified account and all....so I followed back and then eventually he unfollowed me. Must have realized I wasn't the "cool" Amanda Austin.

I got super pumped once because Visit Savannah retweeted one of my tweets. And Kelsey got excited bc the history channel retweeted one of his. It's the little things.

"Whoa!"
(I know that I'm, like, the 18th person to make that joke, but I swear I thought of it before I even read any of the other comments)
I'm thinking now that you've bagged Joey Lawrence, Jakey G can't be that far behind (is he even on Twitter?)...

Just don't forget us little people! :) You are only one of 1750 others!!

WHAT?!?!? NO WAY! That's awesome. WOW! I am really not utilizing Twitter properly. I want a celebrity to follow me, too!

That's is all sorts of awesome, Hutch. I'm sure your invite to some sexy Hollywood premiere is in the mail!

You know, one time before I had Twitter I was looking at Hotpants followers and followees, and I mixed it up and told her that Ian Somerhalder was following her. SHE FLIPPED! Then. She realized I was looking at the wrong thing. It sucked. :)
But I have to say, even though it's be said...WHOA!

Cool, but why would he NOT follow you??? You're awesome, let us know when you get the hollywood invites.

Congrats on the celebrity follow. It never gets old. Ever. Now he just needs to tweet at you.

Also, when someone above mentioned getting him to tweet From The Sidelines reminded me of something exciting I need to tell you about that.
