Mud/Babies/Only in Kentucky

It feels really strange to be back here.  I'm still not entirely positive how often I'll be posting, but the current goal is once a week (probably Wednesday, since I'm still doing FTS every Monday).  Two and a half months have passed since my last post and I'm not quite sure how to properly segue back.  I could fill you in on everything I've been doing, but there's not enough time in your attention span to try that, although it would be fun to test blogger's ability for super lengthy posts.

Instead, here's what I've been up to in the last two weeks (mostly in photos)...

Swam through mud/participated in the Nor Cal Warrior Dash (read about it HERE)

Met my beautiful new niece, Baby O (WCB's daughter).

AND I got to meet two of my faves Ally and Shana. 

The trip was filled with sooo much awesome it would be hard to capture everything,
but here are a few of the things I've learned only happen in Kentucky
(ok, maybe not only, but based on this one trip I've only seen/done in Kentucky)

1. Don't worry about turning around if you missed a road sign, you can just back straight up.

2. The best beverage served in Kentucky is not actually bourbon, but gingerale on crack.

3. Towns named after French locations aren't actually pronounced in French-American

(Versailles = Vur-say-ulls).

4. Tailgating at horse races is a thing.

Of course, if there's no race going on you just sit inside your car in the parking lot.

That's Churchill Downs if you can't read the writing on the building.

5. Vehicle Emission laws may not actually exist, but the air is still cleaner than Sacramento.

6. Streets are named after famous horses and mascots.

7. Sushi is served on a platter shaped like a goldfish cracker.

8. Jockeys might be worshiped as much as the horse, but that deserves it's own post.

9. Santa might wave at you from the inside of a mug well before Christmas.

10. The unofficial state slogan refers to Getting Lucky!

I had to buy the T-Shirt, duh.

So that's been my life for the last two weeks.  I have a ton to catch up on, and even though I haven't been commenting as much, I've been reading when I can! Hopefully, I can keep up a bit more as things settle down. Ha!
