Lighten Up!

It's been far too serious around here lately, and yes, serious can be needed from time to time, but someone needs to lighten up (coughcoughmecoughwheeeezecough).  Here are some random things that have put a smile on my face lately.  Can this count as Random Musings, Shana?
  • Everyone's support from Wednesday's post, you all are seriously amazing!
  • Sending out the New Year in style with some fab friends, and not looking half bad for 30. Take that, aging!
  • Notice the platinum is mostly gone?  I added lowlights of a golden/strawberry blonde shade and I LOVE them.  First time I've ever chosen to go darker, so I was scurred. (101 in 1001 item-check).
  • Feeling much better about the work year after Wednesday, a little recognition never hurts.
  • All the adorable little ones that have joined the world in the last few months.

The Princess loves her baby, Little Miss (Baby O)
  • The hilarity that is The Bachelor this season. I'm not usually a fan of reality TV, but the Bachelor franchise is my guilty pleasure. I can't wait to laugh (and sometimes cringe) at all the crazy every Monday night for the next couple of months.  There's a special brand of crackiswhack this year.
  • Downton Abbey coming back on Sunday! I'm a PBS nerd on this one and I don't care.
  • Finishing 2 books last week! Prince of Tides (FINALLY) and Before Ever After (a historical fiction rom-com, magical must read, recommended by KLZ). Starting The Night Circus this weekend.
  • Planning trips for this year. So far we have: Stagecoach, NYC, Jackson Hole, Costa Rica, a work training in Orlando or Chicago, and fingers crossed I'll be back to Disneyland (maybe for the half over Labor Day weekend).  Good thing I've saved up some PTO!
  • Where I'll be on January 14th...
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs!
  •  What I'll be wearing on January 14th:
Got my Rice jersey, thanks to the Brother!
2012 is definitely starting on the lighter side!

Not half bad, she says. You look fab!

The pic of the dog and baby is beyond precious.

You are going to looooove Costa Rica! What area will you be in?

Super jealous of your playoff tickets.

Cute post! Going to Jackson Hole, huh? When are you going? That's pretty close to good ol' Utah. Might be fun to meet up :)

I am also SO EXCITED for Downton Abbey. I've heard rumors that it's not as good as the first season though, and that makes me sad.

Also, love your hair. It really suits you.

Nice post. You look lovely in that color of blue. What is this Downton Abbey thing? I keep seeing it on websites I read.

Haha you crack my up with the lowlights thing...I did THE SAME THING this year...I have always been a total blondie but felt I needed some contrast and to look less washed out so I asked my color guy to add some in and I was shitting myself, waiting to see how they would turn out. He was laughing at me (and I was laughing at myself)for being so nervous about a few darker streaks that could be easily fixed if I hated them. Thankfully they turned out great, I LOVE them and for me its a HUGE change. I have had the SAME cut and color for YEARS, maybe even a DECADE or so...what can I say, I am a creature of habit.

Your hair looks great! And yay for Downton Abbey, I always watch it with mommy dearest. Much better than e.g. The Tudors, which has waaay too many sex scenes in it to be watching it with your mother. Slightly awkward.
That picture of the baby with the dog is the cutest thing ever!

You look fantastic!
And I am so excited that you will be going to a playoff game - that will be amazing.
I am going to have to download Downtown Abby - I seem to have really missed out.

Oh, whatEVER! I'll be 30 in March, so I can say this... you look FANTASTIC!!

Love the football outfit! I'm sure you're going to have a blast!

This is the fourth time I'm reading about or hearing about Downton Abbey. Everyone says it's hilarious. Thank you, Netflix, for giving me the ability to catch up!

Have a fabulous weekend!

I'm quite jealous of the playoff tickets!

Hooray for recognition and work, and I think the hair looks great (I've always wondered what it would be like to change hair colors . . . now, I keep my hair so short that you can't really tell if it's black or brown or blonde or gray . . . it's all of the above)

You are adorable! And definitely hot for 30..

I've been blond-ish my entire life & recently went DARK. Girl, I love it!!!

I still think you should have Memphis to the list of travels. Or at least Nashville or somehwere I could drive & see you in person!

Gurrrrlll, I am right there with you about the Bachelor. It's the only "reality" show that I can't help but follow compulsively.

This season is CRAY.

Found you via PixieBlog and looking forward to keeping up and learning more about you! xo

yay for catch-up day!

I think any shade of blonde suits you perfectly. I'm having a helluva time picturing you as a brunette, though...

Doggy-baby tummy love is so sweet. It almost doesn't even look real.

And I think you forgot some October east coast lovin' in there. ;) Just sayin'....

GO NINERS. Unless they play the Giants (Ally and Cruz sittin in a tree...) or the Saints.
