You're How Old?!

Revealing my age is often followed with a look of shock. It's one of my favorite looks.  Yes, I'm 30, and I will gladly smile and engulf you in a gigantic hug (usually more of a mental hug because that might be awkward with co-workers or strangers) when you guess 25 maaaaaybe 26.

After hitting 30, I wanted to make sure I continued to see this look.  It was time to really take care of the skin. I loved my Aveeno, but definitely didn't notice much difference with their product lines. Sure it kept my skin clear, but could there be more?  I've spent the last 11 months making an investment in my face.  Below are the list of products I have fallen for.

KINERASE: PhotoFacials Sun Damage Reversal System Daily Exfoliating Cleanser (daily)

I don't have Sun Damage yet (and hope to never), but this has helped tremendously with my uneven skin tone. I have lots of red undertones and could never quite get that even color look.  There's weekends where I go completely make-up-less now and I think this product is a huge reason why.

KINERASE: Intensive Eye Cream (daily)

I follow up the cleanser with the under eye cream. Hello miracle worker!  I used a sample of this many years back and loved it, but the wallet couldn't take it. Now the eyes demand it. After a couple months the skin is so soft and there's definitely a difference! I also use the day and night moisturizers. I had no idea there was a reason to use separate moisturizers, now I get it!

Mary Kay: Microdermabrasion Set (2-3 times/week)

Other than participating as a "face model" for a friend at one of her classes I haven't fully used this product. However, I ordered immediately and should have it next week. I will never pay for the spa microdermabrasion treatments after this!

Eyedews (weekly)

If you follow me on twitter you hear me talk about Eyedews constantly!  These are my weekly pamper treat (and I really should use them more).  My typical Saturday morning consists of waking up, working out, shower, coffee, Eyedews.  15 minutes of pure relaxation and, like magic, my puffiness from a week of insanity is diminished. If you're in need, make sure to check out Semper Fi Momma's blog today (after 7am)!

What are your facial product must haves?

People never believe I'm 32. And, they're even more shocked to find out JT is 33. Everyone thinks he's in his early 20's.

I use and love the Mary Kay microdermabrasion set. Don't use it close to your eyes and only use it about once every 3 days.

The thing I hate most about my skin, besides it being dry and sensitive, are my dark under eye circles. I really need to find a product that works. Maybe I'll try the Kinerase eye cream. And, I need to get on the eyedews bandwagon.

Yeah, you look younger than 30 for sure! I'm going to have to give those products a try!

I have sensitive skin so I'm scared to try new things sometimes but I love Aveeno lotions and I've been using some under eye cream from Bare Minerals but I think it's time for me to try something new on the eyes. So maybe I'll check out some of these.

I have sensitive skin too so I'm scared to try new stuff. But I might have to! I think I look my age. YIKES.

I love when people have a hard time guessing my age. What an ego boost that is!

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I was actually looking for some new skin products. Though I recently discovered the Boscia line at Sephora and I'm in love with their moisturizers. I'll definitely look into the eyedews!

I've been using Oil of Olay but I may upgrade to Kinerase to try something better...

I reluctantly tried the Mary Kay Timewise facial system last Sept and am TOTALLY hooked. I use their microdermabrasion too.. but one of my favorite products is their newer hydrating gel mask. I leave it on all night and my skin looks and feels fabulous in the morning. I've just not gotten into their eye colors and I love how they go on (was trying Bare Escentuals and they just looked like crap). Anyway.. won't go without Mary Kay for a long time.. and I don't use anything else!

Unless I missed it, you are leaving out THE most important skin care product: SUNSCREEN. According to my dermatologist: no less than 35 SPF on your face, all day, every day; the 15 or 20 SPF in your moisturizer does not count. I love SHISEIDO Urban Environmental UV Protection. It goes on top of your daily moisturizer. Cerave (available in drugstores) also makes a good one. I use that on my decollete (another place you should ALWAYS apply sunscreen) since it is a lot cheaper than the Shiseido. :)

If you dont have one already, do yourself a favor and get a Clarisonic. Stat. It will be a game changer. Trust. And get the LEGIT one, not an Oil of Olay knock off....its honestly one of the best investments I have made in my skin care routine.

I have used nothing but Mary Kay products since I hit puberty.

Have you seen pictures of my grandmother? The one that just turned 75? Yeah.. She uses the stuff & her skin is the reason I'm a believer.

FYI: If you need a hook-up for the crack, I mean Mary Kay.. I have one : )
